The Canadian Institute for Identities and Migration (CIIM) encourages users to access all parts of the CIMI website and use all published data, reports and graphics (graphs, images, tables, etc.) presented herein (collectively, the “Material”), for informational purposes only. All contents on this website are protected by copyright.

What can you do with CIMI published content (data, text and multimedia products)?

CIIM gives general consent for users to copy, download or print content for their personal or organizational use. Quotes from CIMI publications and multimedia products may be used in your own documents, presentations, blogs, websites and teaching materials, provided that suitable reference is made to the CIMI and CIIM as the source. You should cite the title of the material, the CIMI, publication year (if applicable), page number and/or URL (uniform resource locator) wherever possible.

All requests for commercial use, translation rights or to adapt CIMI data or infographics for print in widely distributed publications should be submitted to ashley.manuel [at] acs-aec.ca.

Linking to the CIMI website and use of the CIMI logo

In order to promote its work and maximize exposure, CIIM encourages users that have websites to include hyperlinks to the CIMI website or to insert a hyperlinked logo.  Users do not need to ask permission to do so, if the following conditions are met:

These hyperlinks must not:

  • infringe CIMI rights, in particular relating to its logo, acronym and intellectual property rights;
  • be used for the promotion or endorsement of any commercial products or services;
  • be used on sites that persecute any person(s) on the basis of gender, culture, religion or heritage.

When linking to the CIMI website or using its logo, please consider the following:

  • links to CIMI website(s) must appear clearly as such, i.e. with the complete and obvious CIMI homepage URL;
  • if you link to CIMI website(s), please refrain from creating frames or using other visual altering tools to distort CIMI logo or web pages;
  • Please test links routinely to ensure that they works and meets the above conditions.

CIMI logo and infographics

CIIM encourages partners, media and other institutions to use the CIMI logo or CIMI infographics when linking or referring to the CIMI or its material. To receive graphic files, please send your request to ashley.manuel [at] acs-aec.ca or fill out the contact us form [insert hyperlink].

CIMI logo or CIMI infographics for authorship and endorsement

If you wish to use the CIMI logo in print material associated with large public events or publications in a way that implies endorsement, partnership or co-authorship, you must obtain permission and agreement on how the logo will be used from CIIM staff. If permission is granted, it is only granted for the specific event/product requested; usage with another event/product requires a new request.

CIIM makes every effort to ensure, but does not guarantee, the accuracy or completeness of the information on the CIMI website. Our goal is to work with the best available public data sets and share information in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy of analyses. Information contained in the CIMI website does not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the CIIM/ ACS or its associates concerning the status of any region of Canada and/or its public officers. CIMI content, graphs, and maps are produced without prejudice to the status of any province, city, or area.

CIIM/ ACS take no responsibility for the interpretation of CIMI data beyond what is provided formally on the CIMI website and its downloadable material.  We caution users that information shared from the CIMI website on third party websites that express opinions and interpretations of CIMI data do not reflect that of CIIM/ACS or its associates.

We make every effort to minimize disruption caused by technical errors. However some data or information on the CIMI website may have been created or structured in files or formats which are not error-free and we cannot guarantee that our service will not be interrupted or otherwise affected by such problems. CIIM accepts no responsibility with regards to such problems (failure of performance, computer virus, communication line failure, alteration of content, etc.) incurred as a result of using CIMI website or any link to external sites.

In using the CIMI website communication facilities, the user shall not do any of the following:

  • defame, abuse, harass, threaten or otherwise violate the civil rights of others;
  • upload or attach files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another’s computer;
  • upload, email, transmit or otherwise make available unsolicited advertising of any goods or services, or conduct/forward surveys, contests, “spam” or chain letters; etc.

The CIMI website may contain links or materials from external websites. Hyperlinks to non-CIIM/ACS websites do not imply any official endorsement of or responsibility for the opinions, ideas, data or products presented at these locations. The sole purpose of links to other sites is to indicate further information available on related topics.

CIIM reserves the right to deny at its sole discretion any user access to the CIMI website or any portion thereof without notice.

For site security purposes and to ensure that the CIMI website remains available to all users, it employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage and to detect other possible security breaches.
